8th International Yoga Day Celebrated in APS Birpur

APS Birpur celebrated 8th International Yoga Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. A total of 30 students from different classes, 25 girls from the NCC wing, administrative staff, and parents participated in the programme. The students performed Yogic Asanas and Pranayams under the guidance of Mr.NitinUniyal, Physical Education Teacher, and Ms.DurgaThapa, ANO, NCC.

As part of his opening remarks, Mr. S. K. Dikshit, Vice Principal described the importance of yoga in people's lives. He also explained how the practice of Elements of Yoga - Yama, Niyam, Asana, Pranayama, Prattyahara, Dharna, Dhyan and Samadhi can rejuvenate and delay aging and help to get rid of various life style diseases.

A light warm-up followed by various yogic asanassuch as Surya Namaskar, Vajrasana, Shashankasana, Sarvangasana, Bhujangasana, Paschimottanasana, Makarasana, Naukasana, Halasnaetc., were practiced by the children. Additionally, children were enlightened about parts of Pranayama Viz, Puraka, Kumbhak, and Rechak. The children mainly practiced Bhastrika, Kapalbhati, and Anulom-VilomPranayam.

With the chanting of Omkar and Gaiattri Mantra, the session came to an end.  Yoga sessions are often practiced throughout the year by students and teachers at APS Birpur.
